Children!

An old happy man goes to the doctor, who finds him a bad disease. "Surgery" the doctor said.
The father of 2, goes to surgery and it looks bad.
The happily-45-years-of-marriage man dies.
Why doctors, and hospitals and surgeries?
We all know they did the best they could. But...
Couldnt they let the good man live for a couple more years? Without dhs?
Or are these just God's misterious ways?
